The Haven is a simple church on a mission to

“And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that (Jesus) answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” – Mark 12:28-30
Thank God for His grace! How do we love God with everything that we are? It is a lot easier said than done, yet it is the greatest commandment of God. The truth is He alone deserves it. After all He is the One who created us. He is the One who offers us a restored relationship with Him and eternal life through His son Jesus Christ. He is worthy of all of our devotion. Again thank God for His grace through Jesus Christ because I have failed to meet the mark.
At the Haven, we want to allow you the opportunity to experience God and see just how good He is. We don’t expect perfection, rather we strive to create an environment that is safe to grow in your love for your Creator.
(The Christians) devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. – Acts 2:42
“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them…” – Romans 12:4-6
At the Haven we love theology (the study of God), but we do not pretend to have everything figured out. We realize that in a lot of ways we are still a mess. We are a group of people from all walks of life, but a common bond in our Lord and Savior. Therefore we purpose to be a safe place to question, seek and find the truth and abundant life that comes through Jesus Christ. We do this through weekly small groups that meet in a home environment to encourage and strengthen one another through fellowship, prayer and study of the God’s Word.
“And (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” – Mark 16:15
(Jesus said to the righteous) “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” – Matthew 25:35-36
We want you to find your purpose in God’s world. God has put us all here for a reason. Instead of leaving us to blindly walking around looking for that grand purpose, God gave us our purpose in the Bible through the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. The Great Commandment was given by Jesus and can be found in Matthew 22:35–40, Mark 12:28–34, and Luke 10:25–28. In short, it is love God and love people. This is first and foremost how we bring glory to God and find our purpose.
Jesus also gave us an outlet to loving people through the Great Commission. This can be found in Matthew 28:16–20, Mark 16:14–18, Luke 24:44–49, Acts 1:4–8, and John 20:19–23. It is the commission to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world, beginning with our local community. God has empowered each of us with gifts and talents to carry out that purpose.
At the Haven we want to create an environment where you can discover your purpose and get plugged in to ministry (2 Corinthians 5:18-20; 1 Peter 2:9). We envision ministry not just being done by the church leadership, but the church body as a whole.
