God Cares About The Small Things

We bought the kids a TV for the playroom a few months back. Yesterday they were playing with their friends and they had a cup of water sitting beside it. Daxton tossed a medicine ball which hit the cup and it spilled on the TV. The TV would turn on but the volume turned all the way up and stuck there. None of the controls worked on the remote or the TV itself. It would just go haywire. The kids were devastated. They cried and Daxton felt like it was all his fault.

When they went to their friends house I messed with it some more (turning it off and on which is dumb) and prayed over it several times. Then I gently banged on the top of the TV and a pool of water came dripping out of the bottom. I’d been preaching on God’s faithfulness and decided to have them pray over it too. I was kinda nervous and reminded them that it’s up to God. It may just be a lesson that needs to be learned. We all layed our hands on the TV and prayed and then unplugged it to let it dry overnight.

This morning the kids reminded me about the TV. I walked in the room, plugged in the TV and it is working! Needless to say the kids are pretty happy… and thankful. I told them to remember that God cares even about the little things. We paused and gave God the glory and thanked him.

I serve as the lead Pastor of the Haven Community Church. My wife Courtney and I have two children, Zane and Daxton. I love reading, writing, graphic design, and pretty much all things creative. Bring up the topic of sports and you’ve got a friend for life. I also love to teach and preach God’s Word to anyone who will listen. I strive to be a constant learner as well, understanding that education isn’t something that we receive, but rather a lifelong journey. Above all, I strive to be a friend to those around me, seeking to be a light for Christ despite my own shortcomings.
I have a BFA at Stephen F. Austin State University and a MA in Christian Leadership at Luther Rice Seminary. Prior to establishing The Haven in 2012, I have served as a pastor at Life Spring Church and an elder at Freedom Fellowship Church. In addition to pastoring the Haven, I serve on the board for Relationships for Christ Ministries, a missions organization working in Africa and Latin America.
